Rhyan
_____________________________________________________

Rhyan is an all around CrossFit enthusiast. He has been training and using the CrossFit methods for several years. He came across CrossFit by accident through a Google search on new fitness methods in November of 2007 and hasn't stopped drinking the kool-aid since.

Rhyan is an excellent teacher and trainer because of his ability to break down movements into fundamental pieces. He has a passion for teaching CrossFit methods and seeing improvements in individuals skills and ability. As an engineer, Rhyan applies his technical background to scientifically prove fitness and quantify results.

CrossFit has revolutionized how and why he works out. Rhyan started working out in May of 2004 during the last semester of college. Earlier that month his dad had undergone an emergency quadruple heart bypass surgery. The surgery was a success and saved his dad’s life, but his dad's health was so poor that he was induced into a coma for a month and a half to recover. This completely changed Rhyan's perspective of health and fitness. Rhyan's weight had peaked and he was not physically active through college. In high school Rhyan was semi active being involved in soccer and basketball but never really fit.

Traditional work outs and exercise programs did little to change Rhyan's fitness. When Rhyan started following the CrossFit methodology he saw significant improvement. This included the daily workouts (WODs) and following Zone nutrition. Committing to proper nutrition quickly became the foundation of his training. CrossFit has enlightened him of the importance of variety. CrossFit has also shown him the necessity for intensity. After the first year of CrossFit, Rhyan had made more gains then the previous 3 years of traditional training. We can truthfully say that because of the quantifiable results. Rhyan's first Fran was 10:33. Today, his Fran is 3:36, which is a 51% reduction!

Shannon has been active and fit for her entire life and comes from a very competitive family background. Shannon played soccer all through high school and plays recreational volleyball with her husband, but is good at any sport. She has found that CrossFit has given her more gains in these sports than traditional fitness regiments have done in the past. She had said, "In two weeks of CrossFitting, I have seen more improvement and definition, then I had gotten from 5 years of training."

Shannon brings her expertise of anatomy and physiology as a Physician's Assistant living in the Macomb area. She understands the importance of total fitness in relation to health. She sees the disabling effects of poor nutrition and sedentary lifestyles on a daily basis. As her patients age she coaches them to stay active so that the critical functions of life, such as standing and sitting, so they don't become overwhelming and strenuous.

Debbie
_____________________________________________________

Debbie has been involved in athletics since a very young age. She participated in all kinds of sports ranging from basketball to soccer to tap dance. As an adult she continues her involvement in sports by coaching two age levels of girls basketball, running short course marathons, and playing softball. Deb recently found CrossFit while looking into becoming a certified personal trainer. She had trained in the traditional gyms but was not seeing the results that traditional methods boast.

Debbie values the CrossFit experience for many reasons. Her husband, US Army, uses CrossFit with his soldiers to increase their work capacity, strength, endurance, and speed. As soldiers, they have found CrossFit invaluable at equipping men and women who serve our country and protect our freedoms.

Also, as a counselor, she realizes the importance of an active lifestyle to promote good mental health and stress relief. Debbie realizes the importance of having constructive outlets for dealing with life. The "Constantly Varied" concept of CrossFit not only refers to physical tasks but also to life changes. Being able to overcome barriers and take down boundaries is applicable in fitness and in life. Taking on a new job doesn't seem as daunting when you just completed and set a personal record on a Hero WOD.

Debbie has also personally benefited from CrossFit in many ways. The first dramatic difference was in her 5k time. She spent months training for a 5k using very traditional methods (tons of time on the treadmill) and noticed very little improvement. After just 2 months of CrossFit she dropped 4 minutes off her time.

Debbie is a big proponent of CrossFit. She tells everyone she knows about it, not only because of the benefits, but because of how fun it is. The group classes provide the extra push and competition to keep the workouts exciting.

Debbie is still working toward her ACE certification, however she only sees it a an accompaniment to her CrossFit certification. Debbie likes telling people that leg extensions only help you recline in your Lazy-Boy and biceps curls are for using the remote control; training others using the CrossFit methods has allowed her to see quicker and better results.

Mitchell
_____________________________________________________

Mitchell got into fitness by doing Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do as a teenager. He soon gained a love for fitness and showing people what fitness can do for them. Mitchell started and created a calisthenic workout program that trained clients in person and online to be physically active by using body weight movements. Since then he became a certified International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) personal fitness trainer.

Then Mitchell found CrossFit. In spite of everything Mitchell had done before, CrossFit put it all together. As a personal trainer CrossFit has accelerated how quickly he can help people grow (physically and mentally), gain strength, confidence and change their lives. CrossFit has provided him with the tools they need to be the best that they can be and showing them how they can do something that they thought they never could achieve before. It is this feeling of accomplishment that pushes Mitchell personally and pushes the community that he coaches further then ever.

The part of CrossFit Macomb (and all of CrossFit) that impresses Mitchell the most is the community. Being apart of this community is what sets CrossFit apart from everything else he has done. The motivation that the community provides is unbelievable. Working out own your own can get you so so far. Working out with a community, cheering you on and pushing you to better gets past any plateau. Mitchell is now faster, stronger, and more athletic then he ever thought he could be.

Available for Personal Training.
